This lecture focuses on the origins of Olympism and Olympic education and their development through the XX century in the face of two World Wars, the Cold War and the increasing commercialization of the Olympic Games and sport in general. Six features of Olympic education are developed that are directly relevant to schools at the beginning of the XXI century, with calls for the media and all those involved in sport to support Olympic education.
