A confluence of destinies : the saga of Winnipeg falcons' 1920 Olympic gold medal victory in ice hockey / David Grebstad
Edité par David Grebstad - 2022
In the spring of 1920, a team of predominantly Icelandic-Canadian boys known as the Winnipeg falcons shocked the world and won the first ever Olympic ice hockey competition for Canada, and became the first team to ever be declared the World Champions of ice hockey. To do so, they overcame numerous roadblocks both on and off the ice. Their victory came on the heels of the most catastrophic war the world had even known, a rampant pandemic that killed millions, and social unrest in their hometown of Winnipeg and across Canada. Their story is more than just a story of hockey, it is a story of loss, perseverance, determination and grit set amongst one of the most tumultuous periods in history.
