Integrity in sport : IOC approach / International Olympic Committee
The notion of integrity in sport has emerged in recent years in reference to upholding ethical principles in sport. For the International Olympic Committee, integrity in sport is a principle which is upheld through five pillars : 1) ethical behaviour, 2) good governance and anti-corruption mesures, 3) the integrity of competitions, 4) the safeguarding of members and athletes, 5) the respect of human rights. This paper summarises the work led by the International Olympic Committee to support the Olympic Movement in upholding the overall ethical principles, in particular the Basic Universal Principles of Good Governance, and reducing the prevalence of threats to the integrity of sport.
