This article revisits the original ideals of the Paralympics and looks back on the history of the Paralympics. It discusses the significance and ideals of the Paralympics from social and international perspectives, in particular through comparisons with other international disability sports competitions: the Deaflympics, Special Olympics, the VIRTUS (previously INAS) Global Games for persons with intellectual disability, and the Invictus Games.
