This project is an analysis of how the Cayman Islands Olympic Committee (CIOC) can initiate the development of an improved communication system between its stakeholders. This analysis will contribute to a cohesive sport structure in the Cayman Islands and will be facilitated through a Strategic Plan. The task is to determine the capacity of the CIOC in improving the communication between its stakeholders and establishing the root of poor communication, while discovering the tools to strengthen these paths of interaction. Poor communication includes no response, confusion upon delegation, lack of understanding or education on those involved in other organisations, responding in an untimely manner, and indecorous interaction. Although each stakeholder plays an important role in the sport community individually, there are inefficient paths of communication creating a lack of cohesiveness. The population size and demographics of the Cayman Islands, along with no current guidelines of interaction, contribute to the poor communication between stakeholders and a sense of confusion in regards to the appropriate role identification of both organisational and individual stakeholders. This document also includes the reasons as to why the CIOC should take on the role as a governing body for sport in the Cayman Islands and determine its role in the community. The result of this project is a Strategic Plan that includes tasks and goals to provide a physical reference for benchmarking progress towards better communication. This project has considered the personal opinions of those stakeholders affected by such a plan with the hopes that any change and progress will be widely accepted and encouraged. The primary instrument used to collect these opinions were one-on-one interviews held with key persons in the sport community. CIOC stakeholders include the CIOC board members, the Cayman Islands Government Department of Sports, the Government Ministry of Health, Environment, Youth, Sports and Culture, National Federations, the Fundraising Committee, coaches, athletes and volunteers. The main objectives of the Strategic Plan is to provide a tool to guide the process of collaboration between organisations’ opinions, to improve relationships and contribute to an efficient sport community in its’ entirety
