In this special issue for the 7th Convention of the World Sports and Environment, Beijing 2008 showcases some key achievements of Beijing as it strives to keep true to its promises to environmental protection when building Olympic venues, such as saving water and using green energies and construction materials that are environmentally-friendly and energy-saving. The city is also fulfilling its commitment to an improved environment. Many efforts have been made in expanding afforestation, improving air quality, and enhancing public sewage and wastes treatment systems.
