Medical care for the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games has been organized by the Sydney Organising Committee for the Olympic Games (SOCOG) under the aegis of the IOC Medical Commission and in accordance with the stipulations of the Olympic charter. This guide has been prepared for the medical care of athletes, other members of the Olympic Family, spectators and media. It contains the medical organisation for the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, the ethical guidelines for health care in sports medicine, the medical services operations, the NOC medical issues, the services at the athletes village, medical care at the competition venues, medical care at training venues and non-competition venues, emergency transportation, hospital care, importation, gender verification and public health information.
