The Journal of Olympic history

The Journal of Olympic History (JOH) is the official publication of the International Society of Olympic Historians (ISOH), an organisation recognised by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). First published in 1992 under the title "Citius, Altius, Fortius", the journal is published three times a year, its articles covering various aspects of the history of the Olympic Games and the Olympic Movement. Olympic historians share details of their research on topics ranging from biographies of Olympians, and members of the IOC through to Olympic art competitions, Cultural Olympiads, Olympic sports, National Olympic Committees, the Olympic values, and Olympic legacy, to name just a few.

Of the over 100 editions of the JOH published since its creation, and which are available at the Olympic Studies Centre, over 700 articles make up the digital collection accessible via this dedicated page.

The JOH reserves online access to the journals of the last two years only for its subscribers and members. These articles can be consulted on site or borrowed via the international loan service that the Olympic Studies Centre offers.

For research, we recommend using the dedicated search bar (below). You can see the full collection of 700 articles here.

If you are interested in contributing to future editions of the JOH or becoming a member of the ISOH, please contact the ISOH directly.
